Resumen:
The peruvian guerrilla movement “Sendero Luminoso” first came to public
attention in 1980 with violence in the departments of Ayacucho and Lima. Since
that time, its influence on Peruvian politics has increased almost to the
extent that its existence threatens the democratic achievements made since 1980
when democracy was reinstituted in that country. Often cited as a Maoist
Communist organization, its ideology has been overshadowed by its terrorism
tactics. The use of Quechua, the native Indian language, by the members of
Sendero Luminoso to identify with the peasant populations stands out as a
strange anomaly for it is the peasants themselves whores are affected by the
terrorism. The movement is both misunderstood and ignored by many. This work
seeks to rectify the lack of any significant bibliography on this guerrilla
movement. The purpose of this bibliography is to draw attention to the
literature available within the Library of Congress.
